Challenging and rewarding career opportunities abound here. Home to 18 Fortune 500 companies (19 statewide), you can pick – retail, energy, aviation, medical devices, food product development. This list goes on. Innovation is the root of our business community. Founded on entrepreneurial spirits – look at the pacemaker, bundt pans, Wheaties and sandpaper. Giving: It's our Culture
Here, corporate philanthropy defines corporate success. In 1946 local businesses started the "Five Percent Club." Membership was exclusive to companies giving 5% of federally taxable income to support local non-profits. The tradition is rich. 300 companies, giving 2% or more, are members today.
We also consider time as money. Each year at least 1 million people living in the Minneapolis Saint Paul area volunteer 107 million hours (according to Corporation for National & Community Service).
Starting your career or climbing the career ladder, Minneapolis Saint Paul offers an abundance of job opportunities.
Testimonials from Transplants
"I've been traveling to the Minneapolis Saint Paul area for the past five years to perform my job and was glad to have the opportunity to relocate. I've been very impressed by the warmth of people, the rich mix of cultural, entertainment and recreation opportunities. I also see this area to be home to one of the highest educated workforces that Xcel has within our 10 state service territory."

"Its thriving business community—the headquarters of major retail, medical, and technological companies are based here and have a tradition of strong corporate community involvement. The area is home to top rated colleges and universities, making the employee pool highly educated and competitive. This area a low crime rate, good government and public infrastructure, and a favorable tax environment. The population is culturally diverse, which drives a wide span of buyers, beneficial from a retail perspective. Its central location allows easy access to a major metropolitan area from both coasts but retains the beauty of the natural environment with its thousands of lakes within driving distance. The community offers a multitude of opportunities in theater, arts, culture, dining but also outdoor and family activities."

More to Life? (Eric) - 02/18/2008
This whole compilation of nonsense is stupid. I haven't seen such waste of my tax dollars this bad until now. Why is it you choose to portray all these liberal agenda ideas on the site when you're trying to rename the TWIN CITIES? I am a frequent business traveler and when meeting others I'll have to make it a point to call it the TWIN CITIES like it's always been.
No tax dollars (Karyn) - 04/11/2008
As the manager of this multi year initiative I want to assure you no tax dollars are being spent. All the dollars raised are from the private sector. There is a lack of awareness as to why Minneapolis SaintPaul is a great place to live and work and we want everyone to tell the story. Our product is Minneapolis Saint Paul and us locals often refer to it as the Twin Cities. No matter what anyone wants to call us - keep telling everyone about what a great place this is!
