Hispanics are rooted in these parts of the metropolitan area:

  • Midtown Minneapolis: This commercial district stretches down Lake Street and is home to many Hispanic-owned businesses, including Mercado Central and Lake Plaza.
  • Saint Paul’s District del Sol:” More than 20% of this community’s residents are Hispanic. It’s home to the area’s large Cinco de Mayo festival and popular restaurants, bars and eateries.
  • Metro Area: Outside the urban core, the Hispanic community is residing, working and opening businesses in the Minneapolis Saint Paul metro area.

The Hispanic community here is vibrant, with events, entertainment, dining and shopping. Latin music is always pulsing, with places to Salsa the night away no matter what day of the week it is. Locals are drawn to the recently opened Mexican Consulate in Saint Paul which hosts numerous social functions and the annual Latino family festival and expo – La Familia – celebrating Hispanic life and culture. Dining options are endless, too. Area Latin taquerias are gaining notoriety, including Boca Chica, Pineda Tacos and Taco Morelos.
