Health and Wellness
Minnesota consistently ranks in the top two healthiest states (every year, it’s a battle with Vermont!) Contributing to this is the area’s quality healthcare system and the active lifestyle of its residents. Pioneers of the organic, locally grown and sustainable movement are based here like Aveda Corporation and Stonyfield Farms. Today, it boasts one of the nation’s highest numbers of natural and organic stores per capita.
Minneapolis Saint Paul’s green urban environment (and more than 900 city metro lakes) offers an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities. Try Major Taylor Cycling Club, the first black cycling club, designed to introduce African Americans to cycling and creating community.
The Cultural Wellness Center , with locations in Minneapolis and Saint Paul, engages people in taking responsibility for their own health, building community and re-connecting people to their culture. Classes for people of African heritage, including self care and senior wellness are available.
