Events and Entertainment

Due to our abundant Asian population, the Asian influence is tightly woven into Minneapolis Saint Paul’s culture. This influence is especially reflected in the many events and festivals that celebrate our residents’ rich culture.

The Dragon Festival, or Asian Pacific Heritage Festival, is the state’s largest Pan-Asian cultural festival with dragon boat races, cultural performances, martial arts and cooking demonstrations, authentic food, arts, crafts and special children’s activities.

The traditional Hmong New Year Celebration and the Chinese New Year Celebration include dance, sports, entertainment and contests; and Wishes for the Sky, an interactive art project in honor of Earth Day, is modeled after the ancient Chinese tradition of flying wishes on kites.

The Village Multicultural Arts Festival invites artists from all world cultures to showcase their talents and Festival of Nations is a multicultural festival offering food, international bazaars, ethnic artists and entertainment from around the globe.

In addition, there are bountiful options when it comes to dining, with many of the metro area’s best restaurants Asian-inspired.

Local restaurateur and chef, Thom Pham, owns Thanh Do, Azia Restaurant & The Caterpillar Lounge and Temple, and a variety of top chefs have been adding pan-Asian flavor to their foods.
