Minneapolis Saint Paul offers a rich and vibrant cultural scene. The combination of long-established Hispanic residents and the rapid growth in Hispanic population puts Minneapolis Saint Paul on a path to developing a sophisticated and integrated Hispanic presence.
Hispanic immigrants continue to enrich Minnesota with the unique holidays and celebrations they bring with them.
Saint Paul’s West Side is the Hispanic cultural center of Minneapolis Saint Paul and throws the best Cinco de Mayo celebration around. The celebration honors Mexican history while also celebrating Hispanic culture and tradition. The District del Sol neighborhood hosts “Minnesota's Spiciest Celebration” featuring more than six blocks of music, authentic food, dancing, contests, children’s activities and entertainment.
South Minneapolis, home to more Hispanic residents than any other neighborhood in Minneapolis Saint Paul, hosts an annual event to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. This family-friendly event kicks off with a parade down Lake Street. Enjoy traditional Latino-American food as well as music and cultural dances throughout the day. It also features car shows, sports, contests and other family activities.
